Retained recruiters are hired by companies to recruit senior level executives with salaries close to $100k and above.

Contingency recruiters seek a broader range of recruits from lower mid-level through and including senior level professionals. Call several firms that specialize in your field and follow up weekly to inquire about available opportunities.

Find Your Entrepreneurs EDGE


If you are a graduate student or part of a mid-sized company, you'll want to know more about Entrepreneurs EDGE. EDGE is a nonprofit economic development organization that assists mid-sized companies in Northeast Ohio grow in value.

For the past six years, EDGE has offered a Fellows Summer Intern Program. The program offers a two-month, paid summer internship, primarily for graduate students to focus on business development and innovation. Applications are currently being accepted for summer 2015. Northeast Ohio is home to 28 colleges and universities with a total student enrollment of more than 210,000 students. As part of its mission to increase the flow of population into the region, Global Cleveland works to inform international students about immigration options and engage them in life beyond their school. For this reason it is critical that students have the most comprehensive, To get students up-to-date on visa requirements, Global Cleveland asked Erin Brown Farro, a Cleveland-area attorney specializing in immigration law, to provide tips on the latest U.S. immigration information.

Brown Farro has found that when it comes to visas, students are often more knowledgeable than prospective employers. For this reason, it is critically important that students familiarize themselves with the processes and application/extension dates. Company profile: Sherwin-Williams


Sherwin-Williams offers a number of internships that provide hands-on, real world experience to undergraduate and graduate students. There are a range of options available, including programs that focus on retail sales, information technology, research and development, and global supply chain management. Eligibility and requirements vary by program, so please check the internship and co-op websites for more information.

Sherwin-Williams offers students the chance to take part in one of the first large-scale co-op programs in the Northeast Ohio region. The information technology professional apprentice considers talented students as full-time employees; students commit to the program until graduation, and for six months to one-year afterward. A broad range of positions is available in infrastructure, corporate applications, Internet services, security, and client services.

NEED WORKERS? Start an internship program now.


Sherwin-Williams, Giant Eagle, Rockwell Automation, Lubrizol, First Energy and Parker Hannifin Corp. are some of the companies with the largest number of internship opportunities in the region per the February 2015 Ohio Means Jobs’ Internship report. This is great news. However, according to NOCHE (Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education) there are over 226,000 students in Northeast Ohio. These companies alone cannot offer enough internships to satisfy all the internships needed in our market.

There are many reasons to have an internship program, but perhaps the most telling is the fact that nationally employers made full-time offers to 64.8% of their interns. (According to the 2014 National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) Internship and Coop Survey.
