Naturalization Ceremonies Volunteer

**In accordance with General Order No. 2020-08, all court naturalization ceremonies have been suspended up to and including July 31, 2020. Please contact Customs and Immigration Service at 1-800-375-5283 to reschedule your oath. When ceremonies resume, we will once again welcome volunteer support. Please visit this website for updates.**

Global Cleveland needs your help welcoming our newest American citizens on what is one of the most important days of their lives. Twice a month, Global Cleveland sends representatives to naturalization ceremonies to hand out welcome packets, and collect information on our newest American citizens. Ceremonies are typically held at the Carl B. Stokes U.S. Court House in the Jury Assembly Room on Level L1 at 9am and 11:30am. Dates for 2020 ceremonies can be found here.

If you would like sign up to volunteer at a naturalization ceremony, or are interested in bringing a group to observe a ceremony, send an email to elizabeth@globalcleveland.org with the dates you are interested in.

You will receive a Global Cleveland t-shirt to wear to the ceremony to identify yourself as a volunteer. Check out one of blog posts about the ceremony here.

Community Navigators

**Due to Covid-19 we are suspending in-person trainings. If you are interested in becoming a navigator, please contact Elizabeth Cusma with the languages you speak, and the ethnic/immigrant community you would support through this training. Navigators are community liaisons between our newcomers and local resources through Global Cleveland.**

Global Cleveland’s newest volunteer opportunity trains and certifies you to become a Community Navigator that helps members of ethnic communities understand their rights and learn about the path to citizenship. Once per month, Global Cleveland will host day-long trainings on a Saturday for up to 8 volunteers. Volunteers will then be able to host their own training sessions, initiate their own community outreach and work one on one with those applying for naturalization. This is a great longer-term commitment volunteer opportunity!
