On Thursday, April 2nd from 5:00 – 7:30pm Global Cleveland and Jumpstart will host the first of three FREE “Connecting Entrepreneurs to Talent” workshops. The goal of these workshops is to foster greater diversity in hiring practices for start-up tech companies in Northeast Ohio. The workshops aim to facilitate greater coordination in the networking and hiring processes of start-ups, thus allowing candidates and entrepreneurs the opportunity to connect based on appropriate needs, skills, and interests. There will be two concurrent workshops, one for jobseekers/mentors and one for start-ups/entrepreneurs. Following the two workshops candidates, mentors and entrepreneurs will be able to meet and connect.

Workshop I

Jobseekers wanted

African-Americans, Hispanics, women, and foreign-born candidates are the target talent groups for this workshop. Attendees will learn about the specific job and/or mentorship opportunities within Third Frontier-funded start-up organizations. The workshops will help qualified candidates determine how their unique skills and personal attributes fit into the life cycle of a start-up. Potential candidates will gain a better understanding of the entrepreneurial mindset and whether this is a career direction they want to pursue.

Mentors wanted

Individuals who are African-Americans, Hispanics, women, and foreign-born are needed to serve as mentors to the entrepreneurs and candidates. This workshop will give you information to assess the kind of organizations you may engage with and the form of mentorship support you can provide. Startups/Entrepreneurs wanted

Entrepreneurs will learn how to build a successful enterprise poised to compete in a global marketplace. Research shows that companies that are most likely to succeed work with a diverse group of individuals who possess the expertise, skills and personal attributes that enable their organization to grow and thrive in each stage of development. The presentation content will help entrepreneurs attract and retain a diverse pool of top talent.
