Currently, the organization is developing initiatives that will target retaining international students by connecting them to local employers. Our Talent Coordinators will provide resources for employers on hiring foreign-born talent, assistance to international jobseekers and training on cross-cultural issues that both employers and international applicants may experience during the hiring process.

International Newcomer Access To Capital

Recently arrived International Newcomers face a unique set of challenges in acclimating to their new environment. Often lacking credit history, accessing financial capital through bank loans or lines of credit can be especially difficult. To fill the gap between International Newcomer financial needs and traditional bank loans, informal banking systems such as lending circles and private loan groups among families, friends, co-workers and neighbors have developed. These sources of capital can be a major factor in helping International Newcomers start their own business and creating a sound financial future for their families.

There are many reasons to have an internship program, but perhaps the most telling is the fact that nationally employers made full-time offers to 64.8% of their interns. (According to the 2014 National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) Internship and Coop Survey.
