Global Cleveland is a proud Community Partner of the 40th Cleveland International Film Festival. The Cleveland International Film Festival is a leader in helping the world discover the power of film arts to educate, entertain and celebrate the human experience.

 

CIFF40 will take place March 30 – April 10, 2016 at Tower City Cinemas and select neighborhood screening locations. The Festival will showcase 193 feature films and 213 short films representing 72 countries.

Please join Global Cleveland on April 5th at 7pm or April 6th at 2pm for a screening of BABAI. This partially autobiographical account of being a refugee in Eastern Europe is essential viewing for a world currently steeped in a migrant crisis. BABAI is a firsthand account of the hardships of constantly being on the run and having nowhere to sleep, no money to eat, and little hope for survival.

The Director, Visar Morina was born in Kosovo in 1979. He and his family were refugees and moved to Germany when he was 15. He studied audiovisual media at the Film/Television Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, and currently works in Germany.

Please join us on Wednesday April 6th at 7pm for the film screening “Walls”. WALLS tells the intimate stories of lives affected by division on the borders of Spain and Morocco, Mexico and the United States, and South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Following the film a panel discussion and Q and A with staff from RSC orgs, including Global Cleveland, and moderated by the City Club of Cleveland will take place.
