Global Cleveland is proud of its relationships with community partners, including area non-profits, local government, and other stakeholders. Cleveland has a diverse and rich non-profit community, and we wish to highlight some of those organizations. This month, we are taking a closer look at Asian Services In Action, Inc. (ASIA, Inc.). ASIA, Inc. was founded in 1995 as a social service agency focused on improving the quality of life for Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in Northeast Ohio.
Currently, the organization has 8 departments: Aging and Adult; Children, Youth, and Family (CYF); Community Health Promotions (CHP); Community Health, Research and Evaluation Institute (CHERI); Interpreting and Translation Services; Policy, Advocacy and Development (PAD); and Self-Sufficiency (SS) and International Community Health Center (ASIA-ICHC), a Federal Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in the heart of Cleveland’s AsiaTown. Many of the services offered are free, and open to the public.
The organization continues to grow, and accomplished the following in 2014:
• 640 ethnic community members received resources on addressing violence in the community.
• 369 seniors gained access to health and social services.
• 178 children and adults learned about tips for healthy living.
• Helped 480 individuals gain access to safe, affordable housing.
• Increased financial capability for 85 individuals through education and outreach.
• … And so much more!
Show your support for ASIA, Inc. by attending the 2015 Gala & Fundraiser, Communities Creating Futures taking place on November 20th at 6PM in the ballroom at Cleveland State University. This year, we highlight the community impact of the Children, Youth, and Family Services Department. To register for the event and find out more, click here.
