Citizenship Corners in Library and its Prospect Growth

Global Cleveland is dedicated to being a resource to the international community of Cleveland. Libraries play an important role in raising awareness about the naturalization process and the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship. In an attempt to make resources regarding citizenship more readily available, we have been partnering with local library branches to install Citizenship Corners. At each location, local librarians will be able to direct visitors to their citizenship corner set up, explaining the resources that are made available to them.

Global Cleveland, with the help and support of our libraries, hopes to have many other citizenship corners established in coming days. Global Cleveland is actively empowering our international community by increasing awareness of citizenship opportunities and other pertinent areas of interest to immigrants.

The dedicated spaces in the library provide immigrants a safe space where they can find information about becoming a U.S. citizen. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Department has developed educational materials to help prepare individuals for naturalization. Each corner will be stocked with copies of:

  • USCIS Civics
  • Citizenship Toolkit,
  • Naturalization Interview
  • Test Video
  • Various study materials for Naturalization tests
  • Brochure, “10 Steps to Naturalization: Understanding the Process of Becoming a U.S. Citizen”
  • the Form N-400
  • Application for Naturalization
  • Other informational flyers in different languages
