Every year more than 2000 immigrants make the important decision to be sworn in as new United States citizens here in Cleveland. Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is conferred upon foreign citizens or nationals after fulfilling the requirements established by congress. After naturalization, foreign-born citizens enjoy nearly all the same benefits, rights and responsibilities that the constitution gives to native-born U.S. citizens, including the right to vote. During fiscal year 2014, approximately 777,000 immigrants were naturalized nationwide.
Global Cleveland needs your help welcoming our newest American citizens on what is one of the most important days of their lives. Three times a month, Global Cleveland sends representatives to the naturalization ceremonies to hand out welcome packets, and collect information on our newest American citizens. Ceremonies are typically held at the Carl B. Stokes U.S. Court House in the Jury Assembly Room on Level L1 and dates for 2016 ceremonies can be found below.
