Global Cleveland and Cleveland State University are partnering on a series of international student workshops focused on job search skills to help prepare international students for careers after graduation. The workshops are aimed to develop networking and interviewing skills.

The networking reception taking place on Wednesday, October 28th will be led by Global Cleveland and CSU’s Graduate Student Resource Center to give international graduate students the opportunity to learn more about interviewing and professional networking in Cleveland, as well as give the students more guidance on how to properly engage with professionals in the area.

Global Cleveland volunteers will also attend and talk about their networking experiences in Cleveland. Immediately following the workshop is a monthly #Welcome2Cle reception at Santorini’s Greek Taverna. Global Cleveland is partnering with International Partners in Mission and the reception is a great opportunity for students to practice their networking skills with IPM staff, board members from around the world, and Global Cleveland volunteers.

Then, on Tuesday, November 3rd, Global Cleveland will return to CSU for an interviewing workshop with the Center for International Services and Programs (CISP). This workshop will consist of mock interviews, followed by informal feedback and Q&A. The mock-interviewing portion will be set up similar to a ‘speed-dating’ scenario, where the students will be able to practice their skills with Global Cleveland volunteers who have experience in human resources, career development, or are employers at strategic businesses that correlate to the students’ majors. Spots are still available for mock interviewers! If you are interested or know anyone who would be interested in connecting with international students please email Alyssa Golinar at [email protected]

These programs are important to Global Cleveland and Cleveland State University international students because we believe these workshops will lead to students making connections with employers and enhance their networking and interviewing skills as they find potential careers and opportunities for a future in Cleveland.
